Filmed out in the far reaches of Forestburg, TX over 4 days and edited in 18 hours, this is our entry into the NYC Movie Making Madness - Film Grand Prix, where we were challenged to come up with a movie in 100 hours. We rose to the challenge and got the final product postmarked at 11:56pm, just 4 minutes before the deadline. The entire movie was made at Kade Bower's 51.3 acres in Forestburg. Fitting that we did a zombie movie in a place called, "The 51."(Area 51). 95% of it was shot within 100 yards of the main bungalow on the property. We ventured out into some haystacks the first night, when it had to be about 20 degrees outside. We barreled through inebreation, melting extension cords, an explosion of allergens and a tempermental fog machine. The last day of editing was excrutiating and as the hours quickly slipped past us, we kept having to forgo certain things, like more sound effects and music cues. STAY TUNED FOR THE ACTUAL MOVIE!!! |
June 9, 2009 We're getting a little mileage out of this little film. This past weekend Kleedus and I went down to New Braunfels to attend the first annual Texandance International Film Festival. Our film screened at Midnight the first night. It got a fairly decent response from the anemic crowd. My Mom and stepdad, Phil, went down with us for the festivities. On Saturday, they had an awards ceremony and we won Best Trailer of the fest. In order to submit a film, you had to submit a trailer for the film. Out of 150 submissions, ours came out on top. This prompted me to send the film onto the Austin Film Festival, where I hopefully won't get shunned for the 5th time. Keep an eye on this space for a short film on my experience down in New Braunfels. |

Just for fun, we thought we would make a poster for the movie. These are some of the pictures we took that will eventually become the poster. |
See the original image chosen for the poster and the progress it took to reach the final poster by Klint Bower.
